Apple announced the 16” M3-powered MacBook Pro on October 30, 2023, and it is available with an M3 Pro or M3 Max chip. The 16” MacBook Pro (late 2023) serves as a follow-up to the 16” M2-powered MacBook Pro that was released in January 2023 and features a 16.2-inch Liquid Retina XDR display, up to 128GB of RAM, up to 8TB of SSD storage, and up to 22 hours of battery life.
Apple announced the 14” M3-powered MacBook Pro on October 30, 2023. This 14” MacBook Pro serves as the follow-up to the 14” M2-powered MacBook Pro that was released in January 2023. The MacBook Pro features a 14.2-inch Liquid Retina XDR display and is available with an Apple M3, M3 Pro, or M3 Max chip.
Apple unveiled the MacBook Air 15” (2023) in June 2023. The MacBook Air 15” (2023) is powered by an Apple M2 processor chip and is the first MacBook Air with a 15” display. Key specs include up to 2TB of storage, up to 24GB of unified memory, and up to 18 hours of battery life. Overall, the MacBook Air 15” (2023) is very similar to the previous release, the MacBook Air 13” (2022), with the key differences being the larger display and a six-speaker sound system. The MacBook Air 13” (2022) features a 13” display and a four-speaker sound system.
Apple released the 2023 MacBook Pro in January 2023. This release included a 14” and a 16” MacBook Pro. The MacBook Pro 16” (2023) features include a 16.2-inch Liquid Retina XDR display, options for an Apple M2 Pro or Apple M2 Max chip, up to 96GB of RAM, up to 8TB of storage, up to 22 hours of battery life, WiFi 6E (802.11ax), Touch ID, and a 1080p FaceTime HD camera. The MacBook Pro 16” (2023) launched with maxOS Ventura.

Apple released the 2022 13” MacBook Pro in June 2022. This MacBook Pro is the first to be powered by an Apple M2 chip, which has an 8-core CPU (4 performance and 4 efficiency), 10-core GPU, and 16-core Neural Engine. This is a 3-pound MacBook Pro with a 13.3-inch True Tone display, up to 24GB of RAM, up to 2TB of SSD storage, Touch Bar, Touch ID, and a 720p FaceTime HD camera with an advanced signal processor. This model was launched with macOS Monterey.
Apple unveiled the 2022 13” MacBook Air in June 2022. This model falls in the 4th generation of the MacBook Air lineup, and the new features that were introduced with this MacBook Air include a larger display, better webcam, and MagSafe charging, as well as the Apple M2 processor chip and a new design with new color options.
Apple announced the 16” MacBook Pro in October 2021. This 16” model was released alongside a 14” model. The 2021 16” MacBook Pro features a 16.2” Liquid Retina XDR mini-LED backlit display with True Tone and ProMotion technology which allows for adaptive refresh rates up to 120Hz. Key features include up to 64GB of RAM, up to 8TB of storage, and either an M1 Pro or M1 Max processing chip. The 16” MacBook Pro also features Touch ID, up to 21 hours of battery life, a weight of 4.7 pounds, and a 1080p FaceTime HD camera. Other highlights include a six-speaker sound system, three Thunderbolt 4 (USB-C) ports, an HDMI port, SDXC memory card slot, and macOS Monterey.
Apple introduced the 14” MacBook Pro alongside a 16” model in October 2021. The 14” MacBook Pro serves as a follow-up to the 13” model that was released in late-2020. This model features a 14.2” Liquid Retina XDR display with True Tone and ProMotion technology and is available with Apple’s M1 Pro or M1 Max processor chip. Options to configure this model include up to 64GB of RAM and up to 8TB of storage, and key features include three Thunderbolt 4 (USB-C) ports, an HDMI port, an SDXC memory card slot, and Touch ID. This model also features a 1080p FaceTime HD camera and ships with macOS Monterey.
Apple released two versions of the 13” MacBook Air in 2020. The first version was released in March 2020, which featured updated Icy Lake Intel Core i3, i5, and i7 processors. The second version was released in November 2020 and was the first MacBook Air to feature an Apple M1 processor chip. These two notebooks serve as the final models to be released as part of the 3rd generation MacBook Air lineup.
